Elämän eri ilmiöiden kummastelu on synnyttänyt minussa tarpeen käsitellä ajatuksiani visuaalisesti ja jakaa löytämääni muille.
Teoksiini liittyy usein myös taidekasvatuksellinen näkökulma sekä teemaa avaavia tekstejä. Muun muassa väitöskirjaani Valotetut elämät sisältää neljä perhevalokuvan lajityyppiä pohtivaa tilateosta. Monet teoksistani ovat kannanottoja esimerkiksi ympäristön tilaan tai aikamme ilmiöihin, kuten tietoyhteiskuntaan, kasvatukseen ja kiireeseen. Ihmisen arkeen sisältyvät perimmäiset kysymykset – sairauksista kuolemaan – ihmetyttävät ja pohdituttavat.
Käytän teoksissani monesti valokuvia ja kierrätysmateriaaleja sekä rakennan tilateoksia. Tavallisesti pyrin tarjoamaan katsojalle mahdollisuuden myös kuunnella, kosketella – käyttää eri aistejaan. Leikkimielinen asenne elämään ja taiteen tekoon on minulle tärkeää.
Because of my habit of wondering different aspects of life, I have the need to process my thoughts visually and share my insights with others.
My artworks often include some educational perspective and texts that open the themes of the works. My doctoral dissertation Exposed Lives includes four site-specific works contemplating the genre of family photograph. Many of my artworks take a stand to environmental issues and other contemporary topics, such as information society, education, and constant haste. I ponder about basic questions of human life from illness to death.
I use photographs and recycled materials and make installations. I often also offer the viewer a chance to listen and touch – to use many senses. Playful attitude to life and art is important to me.
