I’m a visual artist from Kemi,
Finland. As early as a child I was already interested in studying the facial expressions of my friends.

On my 14th birthday I moved from drawing to painting, first with oilcolours, then with pastels and watercolours. Even acrylic colours are now in use. The themes have been flowers and dance. Perhaps the theme that I`ve always liked best is a human being. Since my childhood I have studied the features of my friends and family. When painting I`m fascinated particularly by the person I´m painting as such. To me a human being is a great miracle: the way how this person unconsciously tells about feelings with expressions and gestures.

I get inspired of people and the atmosphere the lights and shades create to the painting. My intuition brings to me the person, I feel I absolutely must paint. Age or sex are not as relevant as the person as a whole. I usually ask for a permission to get to know him / her better. It’s vital for me to interpret the character. I keep processing the theme with my own imagination, sometimes for a long long time. As an artist I am versatile, but lately I’ve concentrated on painting a human being realistically but with a touch of a fairytale. I feel that people also need happy and beautiful paintings to be related to wellbeing. The media feeds us with too much evil, so as an option I want to offer the spectator good mood through my paintings.
