Artists’ Association of Lapland presents a video of Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna describing the creative process behind preparation of her new exhibition Musta Tuntuu (I feel / Black feelings in Finnish). Artworks were made during pandemic of Covid-19 and artist explains her approach, working methods and way of thinking reflecting this complicated situation.

Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna is a visual artist who works and resides in Kemijärvi.

She is a candidate member in Finnish Painters’ Union, board member of Artists’ Association of Lapland and a member of Pastel Society of America. Mäkelä-Haapalinna’s work has been displayed in numerous solo exhibitions in Finland, and several group exhibitions abroad. Her pastel paintings have received many international awards.
