
Tanja Koistinen (s.1984) is multi-disclipinary artist from the province of Lapland, Finland. In Koistinen’s work, the close observation of nature and everyday life are emphasized.
The ground of her artistic work is in nature and her cultural roots, that are in Finnish Lapland, Sápmi and Torney Valley. She aims to work in and trough her home area, reflecting on variable cultures and connection with other species. The artistic language has a touch of soft utopia and playfulness. Mostly she enjoys to work outside galleries, in public spaces and environments. She works with place-specific approach, in terms of community art, environmental art and installation and light art. Tanja also makes paintings and prints.
In addition of being an artist herself, Tanja curates and produces artist-led exhibitions and has been a vice chairman of the association in 2021 and 2022.
