Lola Cervant – Topophilia

Topophilia can be defined as the affective bond with one’s environment: a person’s mental, emotional, and cognitive ties to a place. The term comes from the Greek, topos “ place ” and philia, “ love of ”. The exhibition features a series of maps and textile mixed-media drawings and poetry inspired by this concept.

The second part of this series will be exhibited in October 2023 at Galleria Musta Napa.

Lola is a designer and artist interpreting the concept of human, landscape and territory. She has developed her work during the past 10 years, and exhibited it individually in Hungary (Map of People, 2015), Mexico (Topografías Coetáneas, 2017), Slovakia (Cartographies of the Danube, 2019) and Finland (Terra Borealis, 2021). She has participated as well in international group exhibitions in Amsterdam and Spain, Finland, Hungary, Mexico, among others. She holds a Master’s Degree in Drawing and Creation, and studies in Graphic arts by the University of Fine Arts in Budapest, Hungary, (Hungarian Government Balassi Grant, 2014). Currently she is a student at the Doctoral program in Arts at the University of Lapland, researching in the field of textile crafts. She is a member of Artists’ association of Lapland.
