Sanna Haimila

“When I first started, I wanted to paint bright colors and gardens. I thought about cafes, jogging paths, fountains and Minna Canth park. I thought about self-portrait and  then again not. Now when I look at the works, I see Jeanne d’Arc, teenagers and perhaps a bit of Berlin. I find myself pondering the passage of time, solitude and painting itself. Maybe even painting the most, and the fact that every person is the protagonist of their own life.”

Sanna Haimila lives and works in Tornio. Haimila is a member of the Finnish Painters´ Association and the Artists´ Association of Lapland. Her work is represented in the collections of the Kuopio Art Museum, Swedish state, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, Finland’s State Art Commission and Aine Art Museum.

The exhibition has been supported by The Finnish Cultural Foundation, Finnish  Arts Council of Lapland and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
