Every year, Rovaniemi’s Gallery Napa and Studio Mustanapa, as well as Gallery Kellokas in Ylläs, Äkäslompolo, host contemporary art shows featuring both Finnish and international artists in both solo and group exhibitions.

Deadline for the applications for the year 2025 is on the 29th of February 2024.

Across the road is Korundi House of Culture, containing Rovaniemi Art Museum with a broad range of exhibitions. Rovaniemi is also a prominent travel destination and a city of art studies in Lapland University.

Gallery Napa

Gallery Napa’s customers are private collectors, ordinary citizens, Rovaniemi Art Museum and Jenny & Antti Wihuri Foundation Art collections.

There are big windows in the gallery. Floor Space is about 90 m2. Room height 3 m.

Rent for Gallery Napa is 650 euro for 3.5 weeks. For members of the Artists ́ Association of Lapland rent is discounted to 400 euro.

An exhibition Contract will be made between the artist and the Association. Commission from any artworks sold is 20%. The rent does not include printing and mailing of posters and invitations. Artists are responsible for setting up and taking down their own exhibitions.

Exhibition Period is 3.5 weeks including the mounting and dismantling of the exhibition. Openings are on Fridays and exhibitions must be dismantled at the end of the last exhibition day.

There are two screens to use, one is painted on the wooden board and the other one is a screen canvas. It is possible to take both of the screens off and use all of the wall for hanging artworks on.

Studio Mustanapa

Studio Mustanapa is located in the Gallery Napa basement. It is an ideal space for video art, media-art, installations and other contemporary art productions that benefit from dark and silent interior.

The space consists of three rooms. The first is a small one, size is about 3,95 m x 2,0 m. First room leads into a bigger room, in size of about 7,0 m x 3,6 m. These two rooms are painted black. The third room in the back is about 2,2 x 3,5 m and painted light grey. This room can be separated with a curtain. Room height is 2,4 m.

Rent
400 € / 3.5 weeks. The rent is discounted to 300€ for the members of the Association.

Exhibition Period
The exhibition period is 3.5 weeks including the mounting and dismantling of the exhibition. Openings are on Fridays and exhibitions must be taken down at the last exhibition day. The opening are arranged together with the artist presented in Gallery Napa.

Gallery Kellokas

Gallery Kellokas is an art gallery run by Artists Association Of Lapland. It is located at the Kellokas Visitor Centre in Ylläs, Kolari. The location attracts about 70,000 visitors each year.

Location

The exhibition period is about 2 months including the mounting and dismantling of the exhibition. Kellokas surroundings is also suitable for environmental art. This must be agreed and planned separately.

Rent is 500 euros for 2 months. For members of the Artists ́ Association of Lapland, rent is discounted to 300 euros.

The rent does not include printing and mailing of posters and invitations. Artists are responsible for setting up and dismantling their own exhibitions.

An exhibition Contract will be made between the artist and the Association. Commission from any artworks sold is 30% secured by Finnish Forest and Park Service. 

There is a free accommodation for the artist during the period required for mounting and dismantling the exhibition.

Application deadlines

Deadline for artist applications is 29th February 2024.

The Exhibition Board chooses the exhibitors for following year on the basis of the applications at the latest 30.4.2024.
