Since the beginning of the 1990s, Jaakko Heikkinen has depicted people and peripheral phenomena in his works, mainly people living on the margins, dealing with outsiderness and marginalization with its various phenomena. Heikkinen focuses on looking for a person in a moment as their human self – his works emerging from those very moments.

Studio Mustanapa

Lola Cervant's Topophilia Vol. II continues the theme of her Artist of the Month exhibition from last February. Topophilia can be defined as the affective bond with one's environment: a person's mental, emotional, and cognitive ties to a place. The term comes from the Greek, topos “place” and philia, “love of ”. The exhibition features a series of maps and textile mixed-media drawings and poetry inspired by this concept.

Lola Cervantin Topophilia-sarjan toinen osa rakentaa samoille teemoille kuin hänen helmikuussa nähty Kuukauden taiteilija -näyttelynsä. Topofilia voidaan määritellä tunnepitoiseksi sidokseksi ympäristöön: henkilön henkiseen, emotionaaliseen ja kognitiiviseen siteeseen paikkaan. Termi tulee kreikan sanasta topos "paikka" ja philia, "rakkaus". Näyttelyssä on sarja karttoja ja tekstiilejä sekatekniikkapiirroksia sekä tästä konseptista inspiroitunutta runoutta.

Jaana Erkkilä on Lapin taiteilijaseuran Kuukauden taiteilija lokakuussa 2023. Hänen näyttelynsä Kohtaamisia käsittelee ihmisen ja muunlajisten suhdetta. Näyttelyn teokset ovat puupiirroksia ja linokaiverruksia.

Jaana Erkkilä is The Artist of the Month of Artists’ Association of Lapland in October 2023. In her exhibition Encounters she concentrates on the relationship between human and non-human world. The works in the exhibition are woodcuts and linocuts.

Ulkuniemi kuvasi heinähahmoja kotikylässään Muurolassa ja läheisessä Ruikassa vuosina 2015-16. Kuvillaan Ulkuniemi kunnioittaa heinänkuivausperinnettä: rankan työn tuottamaa hikipisaroiden valtavaa määrää; työtä yhteisen päämärän eteen; heinäkansan hahmojen kauneutta, sekä ihmisiä, jotka yhä pitävät tätä kansaa elossa heinää kuivattamalla.

Ulkuniemi photographed hay figures by the river Kemijoki in her home village of Muurola and in nearby Ruikka in 2015 and 2016. In her pictures, Ulkuniemi respects the tradition of hay drying, and the people who still keep this tradition and hay people alive by drying hay.
